Purchasing Policies

Outlined below are criteria for ordering from the UCF Technology Product Center:

UCF Departments:

Please submit orders using the TPC Service Now Order Request.  For visibility and security each order must have (at least) two contacts associated with the purchase.   TPC will secure funding for Institutional orders via Workday ISD journal.  These journals must be approved by Cost Center Managers before TPC can proceed with your order.  Each contact will receive order confirmations, invoices, and be able to check order status through our secure portal.

UCF Students, Employees, and other education customers

Please shop direct with our vendor affiliates for educational discounts.  Some vendors require validationthat you are a current UCF staff or faculty.  UCF Email, ID or other suitable identification may be required at the time of purchase.

VETERAN’S AFFAIRS COUNSELORS AND CLIENTS:

A Veteran Affairs or Vocational Rehabilitation counselor will reach out to the TPC for a quote for either a computer bundle or other needed technology items. TPC computer bundles are tailored to your requirements of your educational program.

After the quote is approved by the counselor, authorization will be sent through Tungsten by VA to TPC and the items will be special ordered or pulled from our inventory (if available).

When items are ready for pick up you will be notified by the TPC. If your items are being shipped to you, we will contact you with shipment information when the packages have been sent.

Delivery Policies

TPC delivers Institutional orders to Main Campus and Research Park locations.  Items are received at the TPC warehouse in Technology Commons II, checked in, inspected, asset tagged (if required) prior to delivery.  For other UCF Campuses, items are drop-shipped directly from our vendors.

The TPC offers delivery to residential addresses for Payroll Deduction, and other orders as required.  Shipments originating from the TPC warehouse to remote locations are at a cost.

  • Dropship orders (direct from the manufacturer or vendor) are available on some products. Costs (if any), delivery times and locations vary by vendor.  Dropship destinations outside of Florida are not available.
  • Direct ship orders, shipped from the TPC to a destination are available. Pricing is calculated based on weight and value of item.  TPC policy is to ship all products signature required and insured.

Returns

Returns: TPC can facilitate returns with suppliers within 30-days of delivery.  All returns are subject to supplier return policy.  Suppliers may require troubleshooting or a support ticket before approval of returns.

Be aware of common reasons suppliers reject return requests:

  • Any item that is missing any accessories, components, or identifying features (serial numbers) or packaging
  • Open packs of batteries and other used consumables
  • Labor and/or installation services
  • Items that are damaged or abused
  • Memory, hard drives, and other electronic parts are not returnable if opened or installed.
  • Electronic Download Software
  • Special Order equipment such as Apple and Dell computers, custom configurations, engraved devices, and non-standard builds.

Defective Items

Returns for defects not approved by suppliers are subject to correction under manufacturer warranty terms and conditions if applicable.

Restocking Fee

There will be a minimum of a 15% restocking fee assessed on any non-defective returns. If return shipping exceeds the restocking fee, there may be additional charges assessed.

Return and Exchange Requirements

All original packaging, components, included accessories, documentation, and anything otherwise provided with the original purchase are required to return or exchange a product.

Personal Data

Please remove all personal data (e.g., computer data/files, music, or pictures) from any product you wish to return or exchange. The Technology Product Center is not responsible for any personal data left on or in these items.  Linked accounts, such as Apple iCloud, must be unlinked from the device prior to return.

Payroll Deduction

Items purchased using Employee Payroll Deduction are subject to the same requirements as Institutional purchases.
